Background

Alexander Spargo was driving alone at about 60–65 mph on the Mayanup–Kojonup Road, about 10 miles east of Mayanup, when a lighted, football-shaped object about 90 feet above the ground approached him. Almost immediately the car stopped dead without any feeling of deceleration, and the motor, lights and radio went off. The object, about 30 feet across and glowing a light iridescent blue, sent a hollow tube of light 2–3 feet in diameter that immersed the car and stopped at the windshield. After about 5 minutes the tube closed off and the object left at terrific speed, and the car was suddenly moving at 60–65 mph again without any feeling of acceleration. When he stopped in Boyup Brook, Spargo found his car's chronometer running five minutes slow; Keith Basterfield later located a police report on the encounter. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
