Background

J. B. W. “Angus” Brooks, a former BOAC pilot and photo interpreter, was walking his Dalmatian and German shepherd at Moigne Downs near Ringstead Bay, Dorset, when an odd-looking craft descended and hovered at 200–300 feet about a quarter mile away for 22 minutes. The craft had a central round chamber estimated at 25 feet in diameter and four long, slender fuselages about 75 feet long; in flight one fuselage led and three trailed, and as it slowed they moved to form a cross. The object rotated 90° and stayed motionless despite strong winds; on departure a different fuselage led and it climbed away with increasing speed. It appeared translucent, taking on the colour of the sky, with dark shadows along the bases of the fuselages and chamber. Brooks heard no sound, but his German shepherd seemed distraught with ears pricked, and was nervous on later visits to the area. Eberhart cites the UFO Investigator (1967/68), Brooks and Winder in Flying Saucer Review 14/1, Good and Clarke. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
