At 2:20 p.m. on October 27, 1967, Timothy Robinson, 13, and his family in Winchester, Hampshire, England, were startled by the roar of jet aircraft overhead. Timothy ran into the garden and saw two English Electric Lightning fighters flying low. Ahead of them a black, mushroom-shaped object was streaking away to the west. It changed direction abruptly to the northwest and disappeared into a cloud, climbing steeply and outmaneuvering the Lightnings.
