Background

A French government UFO project was approved, to be led by Jean-Luc Bruneau, former inspector general at the Commissariat à l'Énergie Atomique. Bruneau recommended that the study first become a project of the Centre National d'Études Spatiales (CNES) and later a European initiative. The project was postponed because of the political crisis in France in May 1968. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
