Whitehorse, Yukon: Two teens on snowmobiles see glowing egg-shaped object, feel heat
At 4:30 p.m. on January 2, 1968, Errol Smythe, 17, and Tommy Banks, 15, riding snowmobiles on Grey Mountain outside Whitehorse, Yukon, saw a bright egg-shaped object with red and orange-yellow bands above the trees.
Background
At 4:30 p.m. Errol Smythe (possibly Earl Smith), 17, and Tommy Banks, 15, of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, were riding their Skidoo snowmobiles on the lower slopes of Grey Mountain on the outskirts of town, with their lights on as it grew dark. At the top of the hill they saw a bright moving light; Smythe first thought it came from his friend's snowmobile, but above the trees was a bright egg-shaped object with luminous red and orange-yellow bands that seemed to merge and pulsate at the centre. The boys felt heat from the object, and Banks had the impression that his snowmobile slowed down. The object flew silently, stayed in sight for several seconds and disappeared behind the trees. A similar object had been seen over Atlin Lake, some 100 miles away, the previous evening; the case is recorded in Royal Canadian Mounted Police reports for Whitehorse held by Library and Archives Canada. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
