Background

At 11:45 p.m. on a night in June 1968, the US Navy destroyer USS Waldron was taking part in Operation Racer Run off the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico. The ship's radar detected two objects that did not respond to IFF signals, and the crew could see them in the distance moving at 400 mph and making right-angle turns. One object went underwater while the other hovered. When it emerged, both objects departed within about 10 seconds at a 45° angle. The case is listed in Jan Aldrich's catalogue of reports from seagoing services. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
