Pacific Ocean: HMCS Mackenzie crew watch procession of 20 starlike lights
At 6:58 a.m. on August 21, 1968, four crew members of the Canadian destroyer HMCS Mackenzie, about 930 miles off California, watched a row of 20 starlike lights pass nearly overhead for 13 minutes.
Background
At 6:58 a.m. the Canadian destroyer HMCS Mackenzie was on a mission in the Pacific Ocean about 930 miles off the coast of California. Four crew members, including Maj. W. J. Draper, saw a group of starlike lights approaching from the northeast, initially only 10° above the horizon. They flew in a row; one in the middle seemed larger and had a white glow around it. Within 5 minutes the procession of 20 objects passed nearly overhead heading west, holding a steady course until lost to view 13 minutes later. The case is described in Chris Rutkowski's Canada's UFOs: Declassified. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
