Background
At 9:30 p.m. John Dow and Paul Franklin were driving on Springfield Road in Taradale, New Zealand, when they noticed 20 to 30 red and green lights flying aimlessly above the city dump. They pulled off the road to watch. A "thunderous explosion" ripped through the air and shook the car. Immediately the lights began to group, took off vertically and disappeared. The Daily Telegraph of Napier reported on the two men in November 1968, and the APRO Bulletin and Keyhoe and Lore's Strange Effects from UFOs also list the case. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
