Bignoux, France: Caretaker sees glowing green eyes as horses panic at Château des Martins
On the night of February 16, 1969, M. Meingault, caretaker of the Château des Martins in Bignoux, Vienne, France, found the horses panicking and saw a pair of large, brilliant pale-green eyes near the paddock fence.
Background
At night M. Meingault, caretaker of the Château des Martins in Bignoux, heard two mares and three colts galloping in panic in their field. He saw a pair of brilliant, pale-green shining eyes between a clump of bushes and the paddock fence, which he judged fairly large and just under 4 feet above the ground. He fetched a gun and walked around the field; the horses were galloping through a thicket they normally avoided, and he had the fleeting impression of a shadow following them. He fired several shots into the air and went back to bed. The next morning the horses still seemed disturbed and had damaged the fence in more than ten places.
