Background
At 9:30 p.m. seven members of the Arno and Don Wilke families were in their field about 2 miles east of Elkader, Iowa, when a round object appeared above some trees to the west. It moved slowly and silently above wooded hills; its center portion appeared illuminated with a reddish tint. As it descended, they saw a string of six red and green lights trailing behind it and bright white flashing lights in the woods below. The Clayton County Register reported the sighting and a possible landing in the Pony Hollow area on 27 August 1969; Skylook covered it in October 1969. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
