Longview, TX: Black cloud-like object sighted
Three witnesses observed a small, dense, nearly black object resembling a cloud with a drooping gray part moving north at 40 mph above treetops near Longview, Texas. No aircraft or explosions were reported in the area.

Two lorry drivers, R. J. Johnson and P. C. Wheelock, and a motorist named Dan Littleton reported the sighting. The event took place on February 26, 1969 at 10:20 along Interstate 20 near the Hallsville exit east of Longview, Texas.
Description of the Object
The object hovered at treetop height and moved horizontally north at about 40 miles per hour. It looked like a compact, dark cloud formation, almost black, with a grey area hanging down at the front. Its size was roughly that of a small car such as a Ford or Chevrolet. The grey trail was, oddly, at the front.
Circumstances and Significance
No aircraft, helicopters, or explosions were visible. The observation was documented in the local newspaper and is among the unusual visual phenomena reported in civilian settings in the late 1960s.
