Duncan, British Columbia: Nurse sees Saturn-shaped object with two figures near hospital
At 5:00 a.m. on January 1, 1970, registered nurse Doreen Kendall at Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan, British Columbia, saw a bright, Saturn-shaped object hovering outside her window with two humanoid figures inside; other witnesses saw it leave.
Background
At 5:00 a.m. on January 1, 1970, registered nurse Doreen Kendall was looking out a window at the Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan, British Columbia, when she saw a bright, Saturn-shaped object about 50 feet in diameter hovering one story above her, about 60 feet off the ground and 40 feet away, with a row of lights around its middle. In its upper portion she saw two humanoid figures in dark, tight-fitting clothing and headgear; one stood at an instrument panel, the other behind it. The second figure looked directly at Kendall and touched the first, who moved a lever, apparently tilting the craft so that its interior became visible. Kendall called other witnesses, who arrived in time to see the object leave. In 2023 Dan Hughes claimed it had been an inflated plastic bag lit by candles that he and two friends launched; that explanation has been contested. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
