Background

At 4:45 p.m. two skiers, lumberjack Aarno Heinonen and farmer Esko Viljo, at Imjärvi, Finland, watched a disc-shaped, buzzing object approach and hover so close that Heinonen could have touched it with his ski pole. A bright beam from an opening in its underside lit a black-edged circle 3 feet across on the snow; when a red-gray mist cleared, both men saw a 3-foot humanoid standing in the lit area only 10 feet away, holding a black box with a pulsating yellow light. It had very thin limbs, a waxen face and a hooked nose and wore a light green coverall, darker green knee boots, white gauntlets and a conical metallic helmet. After more mist and red, green and purple sparks, a sort of flame rose from the spot into the object, and the mist and object vanished. Afterward Heinonen's right leg was numb, he vomited and passed black urine, and Viljo also suffered severe physiological effects; two years later Heinonen claimed a series of contacts with a spacewoman. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
