Background

At 3:00 a.m. Eduardo Fernando de Deugd was driving from Médanos to Bahía Blanca, Buenos Aires, Argentina, when a man waved him down for a ride. The man's replies were unintelligible; he wore a coat with a turned-up collar and a large round cap and had a jaw so elongated that it reached almost to his chest. As de Deugd neared the city, his car lights suddenly went off and a huge object with a blue light in the middle and two smaller white lights on the sides appeared ahead. When he stepped out, a flash of light struck him and he felt heat, so he ducked behind his open door. The object moved to the left and vanished; the stranger was gone, the passenger door was open and its handle lay broken on the floor. The magazine Gente reported the case in September 1972, followed by Flying Saucer Review. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
