Taizé, France: About 30 young people watch a cigar-shaped object land on a ridge
Between 2:00 and 5:00 a.m. on 12 August 1972, about 30 young members of the Taizé Community in Saône-et-Loire, France, watched a cigar-shaped object about 100 feet long land on a facing ridge, emit beams and release small discs; four of them approached it.
Background
From 2:00 to 5:00 a.m., about 30 young members of the Taizé Community in Taizé, Saône-et-Loire, France, were holding a discussion in a rustic theatre circle northwest of the community buildings when Renata Faa saw a star-like object come out of the western sky and land on a ridge facing them. As more yellow lights appeared, they saw it as cigar-shaped and about 100 feet long, with five white lights emitting beams that extended progressively across the ground, two cupolas on its left side and three small white discs that emerged on its right and performed complex maneuvers; some witnesses felt a tingling in their fingertips and knees. Around 3:00 a.m., as Faa and three others walked through the fields toward the object, a multitude of red particles appeared in the air and the ground around them, and they saw a dark mass like a haystack about 30 feet to their left with a small red light moving around it. When one of them shone a flashlight on it, the beam traveled horizontally for a bit and was then directed straight upward. Toward 5:00 a.m. the large object rose and moved off to the south, following the terrain. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
