On September 15, 1972, at 5:50 p.m., University of New England student Bill Chalker and two other students watched a silent, metallic, egg-shaped object cross the campus in Armidale, New South Wales.

At 5:50 p.m. University of New England student Bill Chalker was crossing the campus of Earle Page College in Armidale, New South Wales, when he joined two other students who were watching an object. It was silent, metallic and egg-shaped and moved from north to south at the speed of an airplane. It remained in view for 15 seconds before campus buildings obscured it. Its apparent size at arm's length was one inch. Chalker described the sighting in his blog The OzFiles in 2023 and 2024. The account follows the entry in George M.
