Tres Arroyos, Argentina: Ventura Maceiras sees object with two occupants, later ill
At 10:20 p.m. on 30 December 1972 Ventura Maceiras, 73, saw a red-orange object with a cabin and two occupants hover over his shack in Tres Arroyos, Buenos Aires province, Argentina; a flash of light blinded him and nearby treetops were found scorched.
Background
At 10:20 p.m. Ventura Maceiras, 73, was sitting by a fire next to his wooden shack in Tres Arroyos, Buenos Aires province, Argentina, when he heard a loud noise like angry bees overhead and saw a red-orange object 65–82 feet in diameter flooding the area with light. In a spherical cabin with two windows on top he saw a being in gray clothing made of joined cylinders, and then a second occupant; another window showed an emblem with a crowned seahorse and several symbols. A flash of light temporarily blinded him and engulfed one of his cats, which disappeared for 48 days; the object turned blue-green, descended to about 15 feet, then sped away to the northeast, leaving a strong smell of sulfur, after an observation of only 20 seconds. Most of the nearby treetops were scorched or burnt. Hours later Maceiras developed a severe headache lasting two weeks and four days of diarrhea, nausea and vomiting; by 10 February he claimed that four new teeth were appearing in his gums, and he also claimed psychic abilities and another visit by the occupants. Pedro Romaniuk and Jane Thomas reported the case in Flying Saucer Review in 1973. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
