Background

At 12:15 a.m. a man was driving south on Interstate 95 after finishing work at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, when he noticed a round, orange-red glowing object flying parallel to his car about 200 to 300 feet in the air. At 55 mph the object kept pace with him. Suspecting a reflection in his windshield, he stopped and stepped out; the object halted ahead of him, pulsing silently. He resumed driving, and the object stayed alongside him for another 15 miles before suddenly veering off to the west near the State Highway 138 Kingston interchange. The APRO Bulletin reported the case in its May/June 1973 account of a Rhode Island flap. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
