Background

At 8:40 p.m. a couple watching TV with their 4-year-old daughter in their mobile home north of Belpre, Ohio, saw the picture suddenly turn negative while the sound became barely audible, and the area behind the trailer lit up as bright as daylight. The man looked outside and saw an egg-shaped object about the size of a small barn hovering above the barn and shining a bright searchlight into it. When he went outside, the object switched off the light and moved back behind the barn, where he could see red and green lights around it as it hovered again. The woman's parents, who lived a few houses away, arrived within 5 minutes with a large flashlight; each time it was shone at the object, the object moved up or down as if to avoid it. After the two men had watched it for 30 minutes, it rose and sped away to the southwest. The APRO Bulletin reported the case in early 1974 as a possible electromagnetic-effects case. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
