Background

June Margolin saw a shiny globe dropping large amounts of a web-like substance that draped over trees and telephone lines in Sudbury. She collected a sample and put it in the refrigerator, but the substance still dissipated into strong white threads. A University of Massachusetts field station examined a sample and found it was not spider web, though there was too little for a chemical analysis. X-ray fluorescence and diffraction analysis indicated sodium, aluminum, silicon, sulfur, chlorine, potassium, calcium, iron and nickel, and the substance was 95% organic. Two other analyses indicated a slightly different composition. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
