Background

At 7 p.m. two 11-year-old boys in Lemon Grove, California, went to a vacant field in their neighborhood and found a dark object hovering about 18 inches above it, apparently inactive. One boy cautiously approached and rapped it with his flashlight, producing a sound like metal on metal; the object's dome instantly lit up bright red, it rose three or four feet, a row of green lights flashed in sequence around its rim and it began rotating with a 'woooo' sound. The frightened boys ran away as the domed disc took off toward the southwest. Three marks forming an equilateral triangle were found at the site within an area of grass swirled counterclockwise. A magnetometer at La Posta Astro-Geophysical Observatory in Campo, California, allegedly registered a perturbation at 7:20 p.m. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
