Background
During the day University of Turin student Franco Contin and his fiancée, Margarita Belmondo, were sitting outside his house in Susa, Turin, Italy, when a bright moving object in the sky caught their attention. Its light fluctuated from bright to dull before it turned into a glowing red ball. Contin took several photographs. When the film was developed, one image showed a cigar-shaped object and another a luminous ball that appeared to be disappearing behind a hill. La Stampa reported the photographs on 3 December 1973, followed by Notiziario UFO, Lumières dans la Nuit, Flying Saucer Review and the APRO Bulletin. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
