Center for UFO Studies founded

In Evanston, Illinois, Hynek founds the Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS) - the first university-adjacent, systematically working research center for the topic. Goal: to establish a scientific alternative to Air Force research. CUFOS builds the largest structured case archive of the time and cooperates with the French, such as Claude Poher (GEPAN/SEPRA). The center still exists today.
