After midnight, four federal employees stopped a police car on State Highway 118 in Dawson, Georgia. They reported two unusual objects in the sky. Police Captain Rocky Wiggins, Patrolman Larry Fincher, and Patrolman Gary Ellington saw a bright light northeast of the town and another to the southwest. The lights changed from white through reddish-orange to greenish-yellow.
Official Response
At 12:40, Wiggins contacted the Georgia Highway Patrol in Albany, which informed Naval Air Station Albany. No lights were seen there and no radar contact was recorded.
Further Sightings
Between 1:30 and 2:45 in the morning, two additional objects were spotted to the northeast near the Lee County line. This event marks the beginning of a wave of UFO reports in southwestern Georgia.
