Background

At 2:00 a.m. Julio Acosta Bertol, a teacher, his wife and a student at Herrera de Alcántara, Cáceres, Spain, observed a luminous rhomboid object with a pink-yellowish semicircle on its upper left. The student heard a prolonged, alarm-like noise. They watched the UFO for 5 to 6 minutes from a distance of 900 feet before it moved off. The case is listed in Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos's catalogue of Type I events in Spain and Portugal (CUFOS, 1976). The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
