Medicine Bow National Forest, Wyoming: Elk hunter Carl Higdon reports abduction by beings
On October 25, 1974, at 4:15 p.m., oil-well digger E. Carl Higdon Jr., hunting elk in Medicine Bow National Forest southeast of Rawlins, Wyoming, reported meeting a humanoid named Ausso and being taken in a transparent cubicle to another planet; a rescue party found him confused late that night.
Background
At 4:15 p.m. oil-well digger E. Carl Higdon Jr. was hunting elk on the northern edge of Medicine Bow National Forest southeast of Rawlins, Wyoming, when he saw five motionless elk; the bullet he fired fell about 50 feet away as if hitting an invisible obstruction. He then saw a humanoid more than 6 feet tall in a black coverall, who called himself Ausso, tossed him a package of pills and told him to take one. Higdon found himself strapped into a seat inside a transparent, lighted cubicle with two humanoids and several frozen elk, and was taken to what seemed to be another planet with a 100-foot mushroom-shaped tower, where he was screened and told he was "not any good for what we need". Returned to the original location, he rolled down a hill and hurt his head, neck and shoulder; around 6:30 p.m. he radioed his boss Roy Fleming of AM Well Service in Rawlins. At 11:40 p.m. a rescue party including Fleming, the Carbon County sheriff and a deputy found him confused, and he was taken to Carbon County Memorial Hospital, unable to remember his name until the evening of October 27; further details emerged after R. Leo Sprinkle hypnotized him on November 2 and 17. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
