Background

At 2:45 p.m. Michael Lindstrom and his wife were relaxing on the beach near the Kauai Sands Hotel on the east side of the island of Maui, Hawaii. His wife noticed a strange object moving southward over the beach toward her and ran to tell her husband, who was walking nearby. It was soundless and square-shaped, white or silver in the center with a black stripe along its perimeter, and a row of lights was visible along the lower edge. He estimated that it was flying at 5,000 feet, diagonally to the direction of the wind, about one mile away. Before it disappeared to the southwest after two minutes, Lindstrom took three photographs (slides), which show a spherical object bisected by a black square and topped by five bright dots; Bruce Maccabee discussed the photos in 1990. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
