Background

At 2:45 a.m. George O'Barski was driving home through North Hudson Park, New Jersey, when his CB radio produced static and he saw a dark, round object with brightly lit windows hovering about 100 feet away. Ten small (3.5-foot), helmeted figures in coveralls emerged, dug up soil and collected it in bags for about 3 minutes before returning to the craft, which took off with a humming sound. O'Barski found holes at the site the next day, and Hudson County police officers Thomas Feldhan and John Mackanics investigated and filed reports. Months later he told Budd Hopkins, who with Ted Bloecher and Jerry Stoehrer of New York MUFON investigated the incident, took soil samples and found independent witnesses, among them Bill Pawlowski, a doorman at the Stonehenge apartment building, who had seen a UFO with multiple lights in the park at the same time. The case became known as the Stonehenge incident through the APRO Bulletin, the Village Voice and Bloecher's reports. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
