Mellen, Wisconsin: Family sees glowing domed disk on the road, hears metallic banging

At 8:00 p.m. Jane Baker, 15, was outside her garage in Mellen, Wisconsin, when she heard a strange noise and saw a silvery disk with a domed top apparently sitting in the road. It gave off a yellowish-white glow, with red and green lights flashing around its middle. She alerted her father, who came out as the object receded; a square lighted opening was visible on it, and as they walked closer they heard a metal-on-metal banging noise. Mrs. Baker and two other children watched from a window until the object disappeared. The next morning Jane went out to look for traces and saw the object hovering above a nearby swamp.
