Background

At 9:30 p.m. a reserve Air Force officer and a friend driving near Assevent, Nord, saw a huge UFO shaped like two plates put together, rotating counterclockwise, from which a smaller cone-shaped object emerged. As they drove across a field toward it, their car engine and headlights suddenly failed. They continued on foot to a hedge, where the UFO was still hovering about 985 feet away, and took several photos that failed to develop. Some investigators believe the witnesses mistook flames from blast furnaces for a UFO. Richard Hall reported the case and a follow-up in Skylook and the MUFON UFO Journal in 1976 and 1977. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
