Moscow: Felix Ziegel opens state-funded UFO project at Moscow Aviation Institute
In 1975 Felix Ziegel opened a state-financed project for UFO studies at the Moscow Aviation Institute; it was disbanded after one of his UFO lectures was reprinted in the underground press.
Background
In 1975 Felix Ziegel finally succeeded in opening a state-financed project for UFO studies at the Moscow Aviation Institute. Top officials of the institute approved a preliminary report and applied to the Civil Aviation Ministry, the USSR State Committee on Hydrometeorology, the Institute for Space Research and other organizations for cooperation, and Ziegel intended to set up a Scientific and Technological Council for UFO studies. The project was disbanded when a shortened text of one of Ziegel's UFO lectures was reprinted in the underground press. As a result, Ziegel was expelled from the Soviet Knowledge Society and criticized in Komsomolskaya Pravda. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
