Atlantic City, New Jersey: Patrolman and journalist followed by crystal-white object
From 5:15 a.m. on January 20, 1976, patrolman Frank Ingargiola and journalist Samuel 'Sonny' Schwartz, driving from Ventnor City toward Atlantic City, New Jersey, watched a silent crystal-white object in a greenish haze pace them along the beaches of Absecon Island until 6:00 a.m.; the Coast Guard called it a trawler spotlight reflection.
Background
At 5:15 a.m. patrolman Frank Ingargiola and journalist Samuel 'Sonny' Schwartz were driving in a patrol car from Ventnor City toward Atlantic City when they noticed a silent, crystal-white object surrounded by a greenish haze paralleling their course along the beaches of Absecon Island. At the Boardwalk they parked and kept watching; when the policeman trained the spotlight on the object and blinked it, the object moved closer, scaring them. They called for assistance, but when other police cars arrived only a light fading into the distance was visible. As the two drove back toward Ventnor the light reappeared and followed them closely until it vanished at 6:00 a.m. The US Coast Guard called it a reflection on the clouds of a fishing trawler's spotlight, as the Atlantic City Press reported on January 21, 1976. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
