Background

Debbie Focken and other witnesses saw an oblong object with illuminated windows hovering about 100 feet above Eldon's Standard Service Station in Council Bluffs, Iowa. According to the entry, the object apparently caused extensive electrical damage to a CB radio, a burglar alarm, an adding machine, a cash register and a vending machine. The owner and employees claimed that lightning had caused the damage and reported it that way to the insurance agency, but there was no thunderstorm that evening. Eberhart cites a CUFOS case file, three reports in the Council Bluffs Nonpareil (August 1976) and two items in the International UFO Reporter. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
