Background

At 10:00 a.m. on August 6, 1976, a family driving in Gaspésie National Park, Quebec, saw a beam of red light penetrate the fog and form a six-inch circle on the road ahead; it paced ahead of them for several miles, then collapsed and withdrew upward. A dazzling white light approached and stopped ahead, strong heat built up in the car, and when the father stopped, the headlights and radio failed and the engine died. All four walked toward the object, now a scallop-shaped craft on landing legs stretching across the road; the wife noticed a massive 'face' looking at them, and two 7-foot beings in close-fitting khaki-brown suits appeared to float near it. The witnesses fled back into the car, the object left in a flash of light and burst of heat, and the car started again. All four suffered from itching for the next ten hours. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
