Carthage, Missouri: Police sergeant sees silent red light larger than the full moon
At 8:30 p.m. on February 1, 1977, a police sergeant in Carthage, Missouri, drove to within about a block of a bright red light that hovered silently for 3–4 minutes before speeding away to the west.
Background
At 8:30 p.m. a police sergeant in Carthage saw a bright red light 45° above the horizon in the west. He drove to “within a block” of the light and saw it as bigger than the full moon, perhaps 100–150 feet in diameter, hovering silently for 3–4 minutes. It then moved away to the west at incredible speed. The case was published as Case 2-3-33 in the International UFO Reporter in March 1977. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
