In March 1977, Puerto Rico Rep. Luis Muñoz Arjona, piloting a rented plane toward Mona Island, saw intense beams from the sea, and he and his passengers saw a metallic disc just beneath the surface keep pace with the aircraft.

Puerto Rico Representative Luis Muñoz Arjona was piloting a rented airplane toward Mona Island when he noticed intense beams coming from the depths of the sea and turning the surface white. Soon afterward he and his passengers saw a metallic disc just beneath the surface of the water, traveling at the same speed as the aircraft. Just before they reached the island, the object veered south and sped away. El Nuevo Día reported the sighting on March 19, 1977. The account follows the entry in George M.
