An International Congress on the UFO Phenomenon was held in Acapulco, Mexico, organized by Mexico City businessman Guillermo Bravo. Speakers included J. Allen Hynek, Jacques Vallée, John A. Keel, William Spaulding, Walt Andrus and Dennis Hauck. Prime Minister Eric Gairy made a strong plea for a United Nations program to investigate UFOs.
