Background

At 11:30 p.m., Mark Henshall was riding his motorbike home northwest of Barnard Castle, Teesdale, England, in pouring rain when he saw two purple lights to his side and noticed he was losing power on a small hill; a car just starting to pass him was slowing down too. Suddenly both bike and car were enveloped in a nearly blinding, fuzzy ultraviolet light; Henshall felt his bike being pulled up the incline and saw steam pouring off his back and legs, which were getting unbearably hot. Both vehicles stopped just as the misty violet glow overhead vanished, and the car driver said he had lost all engine power for 30 seconds yet was pulled forward. The metal side of the motorbike was far hotter than normal, and its brakes were so badly worn that they needed complete resetting. At home his mother noticed that his face was sunburned and hot to the touch, and he felt nauseous for a few days. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
