Background

At dusk Dale Schexnaider and his wife, another couple and that couple's two daughters, 15 and 10, were breaking camp at the Cotile Lake Recreation Area, Louisiana. Near the clearing leading to the road, the male friend felt a “low frequency vibration” in his bones and saw the outline of a huge disc-shaped object, about 75 feet across and 50 feet tall, hovering completely still and surrounded by points of light; the two girls also heard the humming and saw it. The object floated almost directly above them, its middle began to glow, and several thin, intense silver-blue beams struck them in the solar plexus; amid crackling sounds they could not move and saw their arms glowing with blue light. After about 10 seconds the lights and the force field vanished, and the craft glided away over the treetops, while the parents back at camp saw nothing. The case was reported to J. Allen Hynek, who visited the three witnesses; the CUFOS Bulletin reported it in 1980 and 1981. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
