Background

At 8:45 p.m. on 11 August 1977, a couple were driving near Hayden, Alabama, when they saw an object hovering silently about 150 feet in the air. A blue-gray light in its center turned on, revealing a disc-like shape about 65 feet in diameter. The object shot north like a bullet, then stopped a short distance away; keeping it in view, the couple drove home and called the police. The woman saw the object circle around them three times and land. A second object came out of the hills to the northeast and stopped directly above the first at about 400 feet; the lower object rose to join it briefly, showing a blinking red light on top. Both objects accelerated to the south and vanished; the total duration was five minutes. The case was published by CUFOS as Case 2-9-89 in the International UFO Reporter of October 1977. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
