Background

At 8:00 p.m. on 8 December 1977, air traffic controllers at Oxnard, California, tracked four UFOs about 3 to 5 miles north of Laguna Peak in the Santa Monica Mountains and watched the targets for nearly three hours. At 8:45 p.m., a Golden West commuter aircraft reported two large bright lights maneuvering around it for 15 minutes. The pilot said one object approached so closely that it "scared the hell out of me." One of the lights paced the aircraft for 10 miles, moved away, then came back across the airliner's path at tremendous speed. The case was reported by Bob Gribble in the MUFON UFO Journal of March 1983 and appears in The UFO Evidence, volume II. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
