On April 2, 1978, at 1:40 p.m., Warren Smith, 8–9 miles northwest of Calgary, Alberta, alerted by his dog, saw a silent grayish-silver disc slightly larger than the full moon move straight up and down in and out of the cloud layer three times.
Background
At 1:40 p.m. Warren Smith was 8–9 miles northwest of Calgary, Alberta, when his border collie started running in circles and looking up. Smith looked out of his window and saw a silent, grayish-silver disc slightly larger than the full moon. It moved straight up and down, in and out of the cloud layer, three times over about 30 seconds, remaining visible for about 10 seconds each time it came out of the clouds. Smith noticed a large number of "lightning rods" moving in and out on its surface. The International UFO Reporter listed the case in May 1978. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
