Background

A new civilian UFO “initiative group” held its inaugural seminar at Moscow University. It was directed by former navy officer and ufologist Vladimir G. Azhazha with the assistance of Nikita A. Schnee and launched under the auspices of the A. S. Popov Scientific and Technical Society for Radio, Electronics, and Communications. Members included Lev M. Gindilis of the Sternberg State Astronomical Institute, Vice Admiral M. M. Krylov, space technician Y. G. Nazarov and cosmonaut Yevgeny Khrunov. During the seminar some individuals stormed into the auditorium and disrupted the meeting, and university officials asked the group to leave. Schnee claimed that Felix Ziegel was responsible for the disruption in order to thwart the activities of civilian researchers. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
