Pitylu Island, Papua New Guinea: Missionary sees lit cylinder fly low and enter the sea
One night in 1978, a missionary and other islanders on Pitylu Island off Manus Island, Papua New Guinea, saw a small cylindrical object with oval windows fly erratically along the coast and enter the water just offshore.
Background
At night a missionary on Pitylu Island, off the coast of Manus Island, Papua New Guinea, and other islanders saw a cylindrical object flying erratically about 80 feet in the air. It was compact, about 4.5 feet high and 10 feet long, with white, oval windows along its centerline, flanked by red lights above and green lights below. It moved east, roughly following the coast, then turned, descended at an angle and entered the water just offshore. Local men launched canoes hoping to retrieve it but found nothing. Carl Feindt reported the case in the MUFON UFO Journal in 2003. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
