Background

At 10:30 p.m., Charles Weeden and his father saw an orange light moving erratically in the western sky over Sycamore, Illinois, and called the police. Deputy Berna Van Vlerah stepped outside the station 2.5 miles west of the Weedens and saw the orange light low above the horizon to her southeast. Through binoculars she made out a flat-bottomed orange dome shape within the light. She watched it for 5 minutes, then drove to the Weedens' home and watched it there to the west. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
