Poplar Grove, Illinois: Blue light engulfs woman's van, she recalls driving 6 miles on
At 5:30 a.m. on 20 September 1979, a woman driving in Poplar Grove, Illinois, was engulfed by a blinding pear-shaped blue light; her radio filled with static, she felt as if floating, and her next memory was nearly 6 miles further on.
Background
At 5:30 a.m., a woman driving in Poplar Grove, Illinois, saw a pear-shaped blue light surrounded by a white haze engulf her van in blinding light. Her AM radio was racked with static. She floored the accelerator but could not get past 40 mph, and recalled a sense of lightness as if she and the van were floating. The next thing she remembered was driving almost 6 miles further on, at the intersection of Beaverton and Poplar Grove Road. She stopped a police car for help and her husband picked her up; for a while afterward she slept abnormally and had bouts of hysteria. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
