Background

Peter Gersten, on behalf of Ground Saucer Watch, met with CIA attorneys and Judge John H. Pratt at the US District Court for the District of Columbia. The CIA had moved for summary judgment, asserting that GSW's requests for UFO files were an “undue burden” and that the papers released so far were of little importance. Pratt gave GSW 60 days to provide a written response to the CIA motion. The step is reported in Larry W. Bryant's column in the MUFON UFO Journal of October 1979. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
