Background
At 5:00 a.m. on November 26, 1979, a phone call to police in Pontoise, Val d'Oise, France, brought officers to the apartment of Jean-Pierre Prevost, 25, a clothing seller, who claimed that his colleague Franck Fontaine had been abducted by a UFO. Fontaine reappeared on December 3, saying he remembered only that a luminous fog had descended on his car and that he had woken up later in a cabbage field. GEPAN investigated and found the story problematic. On July 7, 1983, Prevost confessed that the story was a hoax intended to promote a spiritual message. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
