Background

At 9:45 p.m. US Coast Guard Storekeeper 1st Class Michal Williams saw a stationary white light above the Mississippi River near the dam in Keokuk, Iowa, lighting up the river below it. The light moved straight up at high speed, changed from white to red, came to an abrupt stop and went out. Williams and a radioman saw it again in the northeast and viewed it through binoculars: it had two red lights and a white light flashing irregularly. Within seconds it flew around the dam and off to the west-northwest. IUR reported the sighting in early 1980. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
