Sydney, NS: Ex-RCMP photos bright hovering light
On December 3, 1979, former RCMP officer John Pushie captured four photos of a bright light hovering then rapidly departing from west of Sydney, Nova Scotia. Photos were examined by radar base commander and dismissed as Vega by researchers.

Witness and Event
Former RCMP officer John Pushie observed a bright light at 22:20 that remained stationary before suddenly accelerating. From his house seven miles west of Sydney, Nova Scotia, he took seven photographs, four of which came out.
Evidence and Investigation
Pushie showed the pictures to the commanding officer of the CFS Sydney radar base on Lingan Road, who planned to send them to the National Research Council. A month later they came back with a note identifying the object as the star Vega.
Significance
The event illustrates the typical UFO case with photographic evidence and an official explanation by way of a celestial body. Despite the attribution to Vega, the rapid movement remains disputed. Source: Eberhart, UFOs and Intelligence (p. 922).
